I am a farmers son, and in 1966 started taking photographs. I have not stopped since. I have worked in Agriculture all my working life and been fortunate to have been outdoors a lot of the time. After graduating in Agricultural Science in Leeds University, I followed a career in agricultural sales in the Highlands of Scotland.
I took up hillwalking at Leeds and have been involved in leading hillwalkers in all conditions all over the country since 1972. Photography has been a hobby carried into the hills, the fields, the beaches, the forrests, underground and into homes.
"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" --nameless,
unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.
FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT, First Inaugural Address, Mar. 4, 1933
When asked what is the most important commandment.....
"Love God with all your heart, soul and mind"
- Jesus Christ's reply -
A bit about The liability insurance.
A bit about my policy
As a member of the MCofS (Mountaineering Council of Scotland) I also have additional insurance cover for leading small groups of 2 to 3 walkers/photographers into mountainous regions.
I have hillwalking experience equivalent to that required for the winter leader award and also above that required for the Summer leader award. Without a formal qualification for leading children (below 18 yrs), I am well qualified after leading groups for 40 years in mountainous regions to lead adults and children accompanied by their parents or guardians.
I do adopt a path in the Cairngorms for path maintenance, I have been a founder member of the Meldrum Path Group, I am an elected member of the Aberdeen Local Outdoor Access Forum (ALOAF) and am also a member of North East Mountain Trust (NEMT) and have track recorded many miles in the Cairngorms. I am a Sustrans volunteer ranger for Dyce to Tarves Route NCN 1
